Our history
The journey begins in Carrick-on-Suir
Helen Frances Dalton inherited her mother’s sharp instincts she was a successful insurance broker and her father’s determination, a well-known cattle trader.
From a young age, Helen showed a strong desire to pursue a professional career, which led her to work with racehorses while continuing her studies.
1962
A pivotal decision
She enrolled in King’s Inns in Dublin to become a lawyer.
Helen also worked at the Phoenix Park Polo Club training polo horses, maintaining a demanding schedule that combined her passion for horses with her dedication to the law.
1962
Due to the lack of job opportunities in Ireland, Helen made the bold decision to emigrate to New York with only two thousand dollars in her pocket.
1990
1992
The beginning of her career
Helen won the green card lottery, which allowed her to establish permanent residency and focus on becoming a lawyer in New York.
Despite the many challenges and having to juggle multiple responsibilities, Helen passed the bar exam, marking the beginning of her legal career in the United States.

1995
The first private office
Helen significantly expanded her workspace, laying the foundation for what is now Helen F. Dalton & Associates, P.C. Since then, the firm has grown and established itself as a respected presence in the New York legal scene.
Though the partners and associates deeply mourned Helen’s passing and it could have meant the end of the firm her team committed to keeping it alive and honoring her vision, ensuring her legacy would live on through the next generation.
The future of the firm
Helen’s passing was a tremendous loss, but her team remained determined to carry on her legacy and keep the firm standing strong.
At the helm, her lead attorney and confidant, Roman Avshalumov, stepped into the leadership role with unwavering dedication.
Together with Sofya Janashvili, they assumed the positions of Co-Managing Partners, ensuring the continuity of the vision and values Helen had established.
